Co-Chair- Michael Giles is the Managing Principal of the North Texas Regional offices of Right Management Consultants. He offers over 25 years of firsthand experience in career transition and management development, encompassing the not-for-profit sector, Fortune 500 level marketing, and successful entrepreneurial and consulting services. Michael’s background includes operational effectiveness design and implementation, teambuilding, management and supervisory development, and culture integration. He has a diverse background in marketing, administration, manufacturing, and distribution, with experience in both product and service sales and delivery. With 15 years of experience in leading initiatives for Right Management Consultants’ major clients, Michael provides the insight for customized solutions of Right’s spectrum of products and services to best accommodate corporate client needs at a national and global level. Michael holds an M.B.A. in Management from the University of Dallas. His bachelor level studies in Human Sciences were completed at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. He has served as a board member of community organizations and is currently involved with community-based parental involvement in inner- city private education.
Co-Chair-Barbara Khirallah has a B.A. in English from the University of Dallas and a M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas, where she is a Ph.D. candidate in Curriculum and Instruction. She has taught in Texas for over thirty years in all types of schools across a wide range of subjects and levels. Currently, she is a full time faculty member in the Department of Education at the University of Dallas and Director of the Dallas Area Network for Teaching and Education (DANTE). Barbara previously served for the last 8 years on the Operating Board of The North Hills School in Irving and the Peak Preparatory board in East Dallas.
Lynn Rossi Scott is a shareholder in the law firm of Brackett & Ellis.Her school law practice involves general representation of public school districts, independent and private schools, charter schools, junior colleges, universities, and educational foundations.Prior to attending law school, Mrs. Scott was the Coordinator of Student Activities, Student and Public Information at a Texas community college for five years.While attending law school, she served as a law clerk for the Texas Association of School Boards’ Legal Division.Prior to joining Brackett & Ellis, she was a partner in the Dallas office of Bracewell and Giuliani, where she practiced school law for 10 years. Prior to that, she was a shareholder and associate in a private law firm in Arlington, Texas for 12 years, where her practice emphasized school, municipal and employment law.
She received her Associate in Arts degree in general liberal arts from Alvin Community College, her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Texas A&M University, her Master of Science degree in college teaching from the University of Houston at Clear Lake City, and her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas.
Mrs. Scott is a frequent speaker at national, state, regional and local conferences and workshops.She has also taught a graduate course in school law at the University of Texas at Arlington.She served as Chair of the School Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and as Co-Chair of the State Bar’s Council of Chairs.She is a member of TASB’s Construction Contracts Committee.She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of School Board’s Council of School Attorneys and is a member of the Texas Bar Foundation.She was named a Texas Super Lawyer in the area of School Law by Texas Monthly Magazine in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 and was named a Top Fort Worth Attorney by Fort Worth Magazine in 2007, 2009, and 2010.In 2008, she was named one of 30 “Outstanding Women in Texas Law” by Texas Lawyer Magazine.She is listed in the 2009, 2010, and 2011 editions of “Best Lawyers in America”.
She serves on the Boards of the Gladney Center for Adoption and Summit International Preparatory Charter School, and on the Advisory Board of the Alvin ISD Education Foundation.
Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Arlington-based RAM Surgical Instruments. Alan has spent the last 30+ years working with medical-device sales and marketing organizations in Fortune 100 and start-up companies. His responsibilities have included sales management, marketing, and brand management in both the surgical and non-surgical hospital setting. Prior to RAM Surgical Instruments, Alan was a General Manager for a leading medical device company. He helped lead a team that grew this new franchise to over $20 million dollars in four years. Additional experience includes Sales and Marketing Management positions with several franchises of Johnson & Johnson and Cardinal Health; including Director of Marketing and National Sales Manager. Alan earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and a Masters Degree from Pepperdine University. Alan was designated a Naval Aviator in the United States Marine Corps. He spent 10 years as a Transport Helicopter Pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve. Alan presently sits on the City of Arlington, Special Transit Advisory Board and has volunteered extensively in the Arlington Independent School District.
Patricia Healy-Ortiz has been working in the field of arts administration since earning her B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, San Diego.She has worked in educational positions such as Program Representative at UCLA Extension Department of The Arts; as Coordinator of Continuing Education at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles; and as Assistant to the Director of the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY and its MFA degree program offered in conjunction with SUNY Brockport.She has also worked in arts and gallery programming including as Assistant to the Program Coordinator of Montage ’93: International Festival of the Image in Rochester, NY and as Gallery Coordinator at Ambiance Gallery in Eureka, CA.Married to an artist who teaches at the University of Texas at Arlington, she also has a wonderful son who has attended Summit International Preparatory since its inception.A native of California, Ms. Healy-Ortiz has lived in Texas since 1997 where she is currently the Assistant Director of the University of Texas at Arlington’s Gallery at UTA.
